Private Domain Name registration vs

Private Domain Name registration vs

The reason that I am asking is because one of my clients, when they first got their domain name the agent that they used to register it had told them they needed to purchase the domain name privacy to protect them and that the business registration was a must because they are a business. He also had them register the domain for 5 years. Believe me it cost them a bundle, and everything was just automatically renewed this past month for another 5 years.

They have tried to remove him as the agent of record.

I am perplexed by this idea that you register it private and business.

When you resister a domain, you can have your details kept hidden.

The business listing, i expect, is a service offered by the registrar for webdirectory listings and has nothing to do with the registration of the domain.

I understand the need for keeping personal details hidden.

The business listing is offered by enom, godaddy and a few other registrars now. It is part of WHoIs business. The only difference is that if you register a domain and go for the business listing, there is a map attached to your whoIs records. So I am still confused as to why hide it and reveal it.
